Teachings

A true teacher sets you free of himself.

At the centre of his teaching is a single instruction: do not accept, test. “I do not want you to accept what I say. I want you to learn to test it. Once you can, you will not need what I say at all.”

His position on the teacher-student bond follows from that. A true teacher does not bind, he releases. Any idea that begins asking for your freedom to think is an idea to be questioned too.

He gives the young a chapter of their own — and its burden is the same: learn how to ask a question before accepting a ready-made answer.
